Naturopathic School

Naturopathic medicine is any type of procedure or treatment that uses natural (as opposed to synthetic) remedies to combat illnesses or injuries. Massage therapy and physical therapy are excellent examples, but one can also include Chinese herbs, psychology, meditation, yoga, neurolinguistic programming, or stress management in this broad field. So by attending naturopathic school, you actually have a wide range of disciplines and field from which to choose.

Choosing the Right Discipline in Naturopathic School
Truthfully, there is no "right discipline" that applies to everyone. Ultimately what really matters is where you want your training to take you. A good idea is to take as many introductory courses as you can during your first few months in school and find what area resonates with you the most. Individuals who are interested in anatomy or physiology, for example, might find that massage therapy or physical therapy is a good fit. Individuals who like exploring the mind might find themselves more at home with clinical psychology or neurolinguistic programming. And of course, those who are more spiritually inclined are advised to pursue areas such as meditation, Tantric massage therapy, or yoga.

Career Options after Naturopathic School
Believe it or not, your career options will actually be quite numerous once you graduate. Many people work for hospitals, clinics, or private practices. Still others work at spas or wellness centers. And still others open up their own private practices or partner up with naturopathic healers who complement their own set of skills. Because there is no shortage of ailments, psychological or emotional conditions, injuries, or stress cases out there, there is obviously tremendous demand for those who know how to heal with natural, time-tested techniques.
