Medical Billing Specialist

Learning to Become a Medical Billing Specialist
Although some hospitals will provide on-the-job training, receiving a formal education from an accredited institution is far more practical. By earning an associate degree, for example, you'll learn anatomy, physiology, extensive medical and insurance jargon, accounting, statistics, and database management. You will also learn how to correspond with families, physicians, insurance companies, hospital administrators, patients, and government agencies, because you'll sometimes act as a liaison between all of these groups.
