Your Smart Career Move for a Slow Economy

Have you always wanted to pursue a career in health care, but just never had the time, money, or opportunity? Well, with the slowing economy, now might actually be the perfect time to begin moving on this distant dream of yours. If you went back to school for medical assisting, for example, you could quickly the garner the necessary skills in 1-2 years. And by the time you finished, you would qualify for a career field that is expected to enjoy faster than average growth. According to the current data, positions for medical assistants will increase by 35% through 2016, which is 3 times the national average. If time, money, or opportunity has been holding you back, hopefully this info will spur you to action. 1 or 2 years is a wise investment when you consider the employment pay-off that comes with it.

What You'll Learn through Medical Assisting Training
Medical assistants perform a variety of tasks ranging from administrative support, scheduling, and billing to clinical tasks such as cleaning equipment, running tests, monitoring vitals, and updating patient records. Some medical assistants also specialize in phlebotomy (the taking of blood) and nursing duties. Given this broad range, most programs focus on key areas such as anatomy, physiology, transcription, accounting, insurance and billing, medical terminology, first aid, phlebotomy, and laboratory science. Although formal training is not always required, employers tend to favor those who have an associates degree or higher in the field.

The successful completion of a standard programs means that you can join a job sector that will only become increasingly relevant as the years go by. Baby boomers are getting ready to retire in larger numbers, and medical science continues to make huge advances every day. Imagine the job security and fulfillment you can enjoy after just 1 or 2 years of formal training.
